Kilrush Tourism Destination Development Strategy 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project developed a Tourism Destination Development Strategy for the town of Kilrush. The strategy focuses on maximising location opportunities along the Wild Atlantic Way, the strength of the local maritime history and Kilrush as a key Heritage Town. The strategy identifies key areas and attractions for development.

The project includes the following:

• A visitor growth plan to lead to a positive and sustainable economic impact for the town.

• A visitor management plan that ensures the town has the proper infrastructure in place to manage growing visitor numbers in a sustainable manner.

• Identification of the key tourism areas for development.

The plan aims to meet the town's overall goal of becoming Ireland's most sustainable town and ensures to align itself with Kilrush Town Team's Community Strategy and Clare County Council's Tourism Development Strategy for Kilrush and West Clare.

PROJECT JUSTIFICATION & OBJECTIVES

This Tourism Destination Development Plan provides a key route map for the successful and sustainable growth of tourism in Kilrush which will support businesses and livelihoods into the future.
