PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project oversaw the introduction of a designated mobile Tourist and Community Information Office for the town of Kilrush.
The project included the purchase of a mobile exhibition unit, developing branding and outfitting the unit to make it fit for purpose.
PROJECT JUSTIFICATION & OBJECTIVES
Over the last number of years the town has operated a tourist information point at the town square which was run by volunteers. However, because this wasn't designated as a permanent location, no signage or branding was placed outside, effectively making the information point invisible and subsequently, ineffective.
Following the completion of the Kilrush Town Tourism Strategy, Kilrush Town Team have implemented certain recommendations. One of these recommendations was the introduction of a community and tourist information point to Kilrush town. The introduction of this information point forms a central part of the development of tourism in Kilrush. Given the town's strategic location on the Wild Atlantic Way, it is critical that a clearly visible tourist information point is present and operational in the centre of the town.
An additional positive of having a mobile unit is that this unit can be placed in the most appropriate location at any given time, e.g. for festivals and other events.
