Kilrush Cycle Lanes

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project will build on the Kilrush Family Cycles project and seeks to explore the development of a comprehensive cycle lane infrastructure for the town of Kilrush as an extension to the West Clare Greenway and in possible conjunction with the Kilrush Town Train project.

PROJECT JUSTIFICATION & OBJECTIVES

A comprehensive network of urban cycle lanes could connect seamlessly with the West Clare Greenway and would effectively make Kilrush part of the Greenway. This would bring additional visitors into the town, benefiting all businesses. Using the bike as a mode of transport within Kilrush would also be encouraged.

In addition a cycle lane network would potentially reduce residential car traffic and benefit physical and mental health as well as the environment.
