West Clare Indoor Sports Arena

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project seeks to develop an indoor sports arena for West Clare on the grounds of Kilrush Active that could cater for a variety of sports, e.g. athletics, basket ball, etc.

This project could be jointly developed with the Kilrush Active Full Size Astro Turf project and be part of a wider Kilrush Active Rejuvenation project.

PROJECT JUSTIFICATION & OBJECTIVES

The West Clare area currently has no indoor sports facilities. As a consequence local clubs have to travel over 40km to Ennis where the nearest facilities are located. This creates not only issues for the West Clare clubs, but also adds pressure on the facility in Ennis.

A dedicated indoor sports arena in Kilrush would serve the whole West Clare area. This would offer local clubs more opportunities for regular training sessions, would create the option to develop new sports & clubs in the area and would grow Kilrush's reputation as a centre for sports regionally and nationally.
